After you have replaced your lost social security card, and looked at ways to prevent identity theft, you will probably want to do a check on your children’s social security numbers.
Why?
Because last year alone, there were almost 250,000 complaints made to the Federal Trade Commission concerning the identity theft of children.
Thieves are targeting children, because they know their crimes can go undetected for many years. Often parents do not find out about the crime until their teenager tries to get into college or get a job.
