Whether or not you have lost your social security card, everyone needs to become more aware of the way thieves can obtain information about you. Here is a news item that highlights a lot of the problems people face today.
Even arming yourself with just a basic knowledge of these tactics, could just save you from becoming a victim of identity theft.
Don’t get caught out due to ignorance. Go Here and read this information now, and you’ll be ready next time any of these examples happen to you.
And here’s an extra one that isn’t on that webpage:
Never type your email address into any webpage. Whether it be your own website, a forum you have visited, or any other site where the email will be dispalyed.
You can disguise it so that the @ is AT or you can put spaces in, because everyone knows emails don’t have spaces in. The reason for diguising emails is, spammers and scammers have automated software that ‘spider’ websites mining email addresses. They can’t understand amended emails.
If you are filling in a box, you need to keep the email as it is, but it is unlikely that your email will be on display in that case.
